Long Wall House

Long Wall House is a conceptual project designed as a weekend home in the lush green city of Karjat. Structurally, it is imagined as a load-bearing structure comprising brick and stone. The key element of the project is the central exposed brick wall that runs along the length of the house. The project derives its name from this element, which divides the spaces into public and private areas. The public areas are derivatives of sociable spaces ideal for entertaining.

Private, enclosed areas spill out into bigger, open spaces to create a spatial hierarchy. For instance, the dining area opens out into a charming courtyard. The living room extends into the lush green front yard. Even the entry to the house passes through a small court fronted by a water body.
